About the Business
Kim Styles is a Hampshire based jeweller who specialises in hand made, one off pieces. Her designs are inspired by sketches and photos taken whilst exploring the countryside. Kim will capture the unusual line, form and beauty of an object such as fencing, entwined wire, curving leaf or tiny bud.
Back in her workshop, Kim will set about developing her sketches into quirky jewellery designs, where whimsical ideas evolve into magical pieces. Kim works mainly with solid silver and gold, using traditional techniques, such as saw piercing. The shape of a leaf or petal is hand crafted by cutting each piece separately and then soldering one layer over another. Engraved veins are applied, where the character of her finished designs are then brought to life.
Kim graduated from Sir John Cass, a highly respected jewellery school in the City of London, where she gained an Honours Degree in 'Jewellery, Silversmithing and Allied Crafts'.
